This Privacy Policy regulates the protection of personal data of users of the www.e-a-a.org website (the "User").

Controller and Processor
The owner and operator of the website www.e-a-a.org is the European Association of Archaeologists, with its registered office at Letenská 123/4, Malá Strana, 118 00 Praha, ID No. 750 43 289, maintained by the Municipal Court in Prague under File No. L 15740 (the “EAA“).
The EAA also acts as the controller and processor of the personal data provided by the User in relation to the use of the EAA Website.
Categories of Personal Data Processed
The EAA processes personal data that are provided by the User, usually when setting up a user account.
The EAA processes the following personal data of the User, where provided by the User, namely:
- Name
- Surname
- Date of birth
- E-mail address
- Telephone contact
- Residential address
- Cookies - for data protection in relation to cookies, see Terms of Use of the Website
- Institutional affiliations
- Professional interests
Grounds for and Purpose of the Processing of Personal Data
The purpose of the processing of the User's personal data is in particular to provide the requested services, to comply with legal obligations, to manage user accounts and, last but not least, to ensure security.
The purpose is therefore mainly the performance of the contract entered into between the EAA and the User. In some cases, it may also be for marketing purposes and, where required by law, the User has given their consent to the sending of such advertising communications, which consent may be withdrawn by the User at any time. However, the EAA focuses on a form of so-called direct marketing, i.e. sending advertising communications directly related to the activities of the EAA, thus in such cases the User's specific consent is not required; however, the User may still opt out of receiving such communications at any time.
Recipients of Personal Data
The EAA shares the User's personal data with the technical background of the website administration or technology providers as necessary for the functioning of the EAA Website, and may also share it with partners, sponsors and organizers of conferences and seminars related to archaeological activities, provided that the User has registered as a visitor to that particular event.
Period of Processing of Personal Data
The User's personal data is processed for the duration of the service, i.e. for the time necessary to fulfil all of the EAA's obligations and for the duration of the User's registration on the EAA website. Subsequently, for the time necessary for the enforcement of any claims EAA may have against the User. These time limits are subject to the current statutory provisions.
Rights of Users
In particular, the User has the following rights in relation to personal data:
- the right to withdraw their consent at any time;
- the right to rectify or supplement personal data;
- the right to request restriction of processing;
- the right to object to or complain about processing in certain cases;
- the right to request data portability;
- the right to access personal data;
- the right to be informed of personal data breaches in certain cases;
- the right to erasure of personal data (the right to be "forgotten") in certain cases; and
- other rights provided by the Data Protection Act and the General Data Protection Regulation 2016/679 upon its entry into effect
The User has the right at any time to request the EAA to inform the User what personal data is processed about them by the EAA and to what extent. If the User has doubts as to the completeness or accuracy of the information so provided by the EAA, the User may contact the EAA for clarification. The User may also submit a suggestion or complaint to the supervisory authority, which is the Data Protection Authority
Personal Data Security Terms and Conditions
The EAA processes and stores Users' personal data in accordance with the law, in particular Act No. 110/2019 Coll., on the processing of personal data, as amended, and Regulation (EU) No. 2016/679 of the European Parliament and of the Council of 27 April 2016 on the protection of natural persons with regard to the processing of personal data and on the free movement of such data, and repealing Directive 95/46/EC. The EAA has put in place the necessary measures to ensure the security of stored personal data and to protect the data against unauthorized access, transmission, alteration or destruction or other misuse. The EAA complies with all archiving procedures and time limits for the retention and subsequent destruction of personal data.
