Historic Environment Scotland on the 31st March 2016. From her e-mail: “Rod is one of those
archaeologists who can justifiably be called a 'legend in his own lifetime' and his contribution to the archaeology of Scotland as well as running Historic Scotland (now Historic Environment Scotland)'s support for archaeological excavations resulted in a desire to give him his own edible excavation cake!”
