"After last week attacks in Barcelona, the EAA president sent this message to the persons and entities organizing the EAA 2018 Annual Meeting in Barcelona, together with our members in Barcelona and Tarragona: Following the attacks that took place this week, I do not intend to turn to any type of rhetoric.When all is said and done, any further words of regret, of remembrance of the victims, of solidarity with those who have suffered this terrible tragedy, run the risk of sounding empty. But as President of the EAA I must say three things: Archaeology, Heritage, and the EAA are a celebration of diversity. This is why we reaffirm our commitment to celebrate our 2018 Annual Meeting in Barcelona, in the city that is not afraid to shout that the streets belong to us. The EAA 2018 will contribute towards strengthening that attitude.
Després dels atemptats d'aquesta setmana, no voldria caure en la retòrica. Quan tot està dit, més paraules de pesar, de record a les víctimes i de solidaritat amb els quals sofriu aquest terror, corren el risc de sonar buides. Quan tot està dit, fins i tot el pesar més sincer corre el risc de sonar buit. Però com a president de l'EAA us volia dir tres coses. L'Arqueologia, el Patrimoni i l'EAA són una celebració de la diversitat. Per aquest motiu reafirmem el nostre compromís a celebrar el nostre Annual Meeting 2018 a Barcelona, a la ciutat que no té por de mostrar que els carrers són nostres. L'EAA 2018 contribuirà a enfortir aquesta actitud.
Después de los atentados de esta semana, no quiero incurrir en retórica alguna. Cuando todo está dicho, más palabras de pesar, de recuerdo a las víctimas y de solidaridad con los que sufrís este terror, corren el riesgo de sonar vacías. Pero como presidente de la EAA debo decir tres cosas. La Arqueología, el Patrimonio y la EAA son una celebración de la diversidad. Por este motivo reafirmamos nuestro compromiso en celebrar nuestro Annual Meeting 2018 en Barcelona, en la ciudad que no tiene miedo de mostrar que las calles son nuestras. La EAA 2018 contribuirá a fortalecer esa actitud."
