Description
One-time centre of Early Christian communities (as Sopianae), medieval university town, home to the world famous Zsolnay Porcelain Factory and capital of the southernmost wine region of Hungary, Pécs offers a rich variety of cultural and gastronomic attractions to its visitors. Participants of the tour will also get firsthand impressions on the surrounding region touched by mediterranean ambience through visiting the medieval castles of Siklós and Máré and tasting Villány wines.

Approximate schedule
Day 1
- Departure from Budapest in the morning
- Guided tour of the Early Christian Mausoleum and the Medieval University in Pécs
- Lunch at the Pezsgőház Restaurant in Pécs
- Guided tour of the Episcopal Palace, the ’Secret Passage’ and the Mosque of Pasha Quasim in the afternoon
- Arrival at Villány in the late afternoon, check-in at the hotel
- Dinner and wine tasting at the Gere Winery in Villány
Day 2
- Departure to Siklós, visit to the medieval castle
- Visit to the Zsolnay Cultural Quarter in Pécs
- Lunch at the Bagolyvár Restaurant in Pécs
- Short hiking tour to the medieval Máré Castle in the afternoon
- Return to Budapest in the evening
