Scotland’s Archaeology Strategy Celebrates Five Years of Making Archaeology Matter

Scotland’s Archaeology Strategy was launched over five years ago at the European Association of Archaeologists annual conference in Glasgow. This is Scotland’s first Strategy for Archaeology and one of the first of its kind in the world. The Strategy was set up with an ambitious vision:

‘We want a Scotland where archaeology is for everyone! A place where the study of the past offers opportunities for us now and in the future to discover, care for, promote and enjoy our rich and diverse heritage, contributing to our wellbeing and knowledge and helping to tell Scotland’s stories in their global context.’

Now over half-way through its programme, we are celebrating the progress that has been made so far and considering the challenges ahead. Three annual reports - in an accessible magazine format titled Celebrating Archaeology in Scotland – have been published and a full review of the first five years is to be published imminently. Check them out online at archaeologystrategy.scot and follow us @ScotArchStrat on Twitter!

On 18, 19 and 20 June 2021 you have an appointment with the European Archaeology Days!

Last year, #Archaeorama was a great success, with 1000 events bringing together participants from 28 countries in Europe! We hope to see many of you at the 2021 event, and we look forward to more than 30 countries taking part. This success comes from the contributions of all European archaeologists, and we ask EAA members to get involved early. From 22 February, you can register and enter your events online on the journees-archeologie.fr website.

If you have any questions or require further information about your participation, you can also send your request to pascal.ratier@inrap.fr.
