EAA 2018 Barcelona is six months away! The sessions for 24th EAA Annual Meeting have been approved, and the provisional programme is online. The call for papers is open until Thursday 15 February 2018. Corresponding authors (person who is submitting the contribution) will be notified of whether their submissions have been approved no later than 25 March 2018. All presenters have to be EAA members and pay their registration fee before 31 March 2018. Note that 2018 is the European Year of Cultural Heritage, and this is one of the themes of EAA 2018 Barcelona.
This Winter Issue of The European Archaeologist includes two very relevant essays. The first, from our EAA President Felipe Criado-Boado, discusses the details, challenges and positive responses to organizing the 24th Annual Meetings in Barcelona. The second is a timely call to action by Cornelius Holtorf, who contributed a debate piece about the challenges facing cultural heritage in the 21st century.
This Issue also includes updated TEA guidelines for authors, TEA guidelines for obituaries and death notices, and the new TEA policy on publication ethics. While TEA is a newsletter, and as such is unlikely to experience issues of scientific malpractice, we believe that an official policy on ethical publishing is important. Remember TEA is your newsletter – use it to disseminate all archaeology and heritage news you think are interesting and relevant for your colleagues all over Europe and beyond!
In addition to matters concerning the upcoming 24th Annual Meetings, this issue also contains calls for nominations by members for the EAA Executive Board and the EAA Nominations Committee, the announcement of new bridges being built with other organizations, in particular a new cooperation agreement between the EAA and the Prehistoric Society, and various reports and announcements.
