Mandate of the Special Rapporteur in the field of cultural rights

As part of this mandate, the United Nations Special Rapporteur in the field of cultural rights, circulated a questionnaire recently, inviting responses to key question on the rights of use of public spaces pursuant to Human Rights Council resolution 37/12.

The EAA Community on Integrating Archaeological Heritage Management and Tourism prepared a response made with reference to its particular concerns, namely use of public spaces in the context of archaeological heritage management and tourism.

The response was made with specific reference to rights of access, visitation and use and to tourism and ‘over tourism’ at iconic archaeological sites and within historic towns.
